Crushing accident ?

An accident with a boom lift at a chicken farm in Bannockburn, near Geelong, Victoria, Australia, claimed the life of a 59 year old man yesterday.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident at the Steggles chicken farm in Bannockburn.

Initial reports say that the man was trapped between a wall and machines platform, possibly in a crushing accident.

Work colleagues attempted to resuscitate him but failed and the man died at the scene. Victoria police say that it is not clear whether there was an accident with the machinery or whether an underlying medical condition played a role in the incident.

The chicken processing plant is part of the Golden Farms company.
