Brian Crisp to retire today
Tadano UK’s sales director Brian Crisp is retiring today after more than 20 years selling Tadano cranes.
Crisp began selling Tadano cranes with Marubeni-Komatsu in the early 1990s, moving to Cranes UK when it took over the franchise in 2001, becoming one of the three founding members of the business.
Crisp said: “I will miss the many friends I have made over the past years. The recent years of growth in customers taking Tadano products has been very challenging and encouraging. As a result it has been even harder to retire. Nevertheless there is a time in life for that difficult but personal move. It proves how much I liked the work I did.”

Thomas Schramm, Tadano Faun general sales manager, added: “After so many years in the industry we will miss Brian and his insight. Nevertheless it is our aim to fill the gap appropriately and we will provide seamless support to our customers. He will be greatly missed by his customers as well as his colleagues both in Tadano UK and in Tadano in Germany. We all wish him the very best for a long and happy retirement.”
Vertikal Comment
Brian Crisp will be missed by many in the crane industry, a true character and individual. He can be something of a fusspot at times, but only because he cares passionately about getting things right and doing what is right for his customers. He was instrumental, along with Joe Lyon, in establishing both Cranes UK and Tadano in the UK market and in recent years has helped the company go from strength to strength.
He, along with Joe Lyon, were also the first in the UK crane industry to actively support and promote the Vertikal Days event. Over the years he was also very forthcoming with his ideas on improving it, always put across in the politest of ways.
We at Vertikal will miss him very much and wish him the longest and happiest of retirements, it would not surprise us for a moment to see him popping up again from time to time. So at this stage we are not 100% sure that the crane industry has seen the last of him, let’s hope not.
Well done Brian its about time you came and joined us oldies. enjoy it Brian !!
