Sunbelt adds in DC

Ashtead’s Sunbelt Rentals has acquired Theros Equipment a general rental company based in Warenton, Virginia, serving the greater Washington DC region.

This is the second time the Theros family has sold a rental business to Sunbelt, the company was established in 1996 after Tod Theros sold McClean Rentals to Sunbelt. He set the new business up with son Joel and the two have since expanded the business to four locations, all of them in Virginia:- Warrenton/Gainesville, Springfield, Fredericksburg and Sterling.

The company offers a wide range of equipment, including a full line of aerial lifts, scaffold and a few telehandlers. Joel eventual bought his father out and has been chief executive ever since. He will stay with the business and join Sunbelt as regional operations manager. No financial details of the transaction have been published at this point.

Another interesting move by Ashtead again consolidating in their strongest market the U.S.A and Canada. But if it wasn't for the foresight of co-founder Peter Lewis to buy Sunbelt from Tom Smart all those years ago Ashtead would not be here today.Fact!
