Quick Reach completes Specialized acquisition

UK based aerial lift and telehandler rental company Quick Reach Powered Access has acquired the assets of Scottish specialist access rental company Specialized Access from the IAPS group- owner of APS and IPS.

The deal was agreed in principle in December and completed this week, no terms have been disclosed.

Manchester area based Quick Reach will retain the Specialized Access facility in Wishaw, near Glasgow and has already transferred all Specialized employees to Quick Reach. The acquisition provides Quick Reach with a specialist fleet of spider lifts from Hinowa and Omme Lift, plus 3.5 tonne truck mounted lifts from Isoli and CTE.

Quick Reach co-founder and director John Barton said: “This acquisition enables us to expand into Scotland, while further enhancing our fleet mix, thanks to the addition of the latest tracked and truck-mounted booms. We are also delighted to be retaining the team from Specialized, who will further add to our expertise and ensure a smooth transition for their customers.

“As part of Quick Reach, the Wishaw operation will expand from a niche products supplier to a provider of a comprehensive range of access platforms and telehandlers. We expect this move will generate some exciting new business opportunities within the existing Scottish customer base, as well as enable us to bring new customers on board. As already reported this is the start of our ambitious expansion plan and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2016.”

Tony Jennings of IAPS, David and John Barton of Quick Reach with Steve Couling of IAPS conclude the deal

IAPS managing director Steve Couling added: “We made a strategic decision to sell Specialized Access in order to focus on our core business as a full service powered access distributor. We already had an excellent relationship with Quick Reach, which is a customer. It has rapidly built a strong reputation as a high quality independent rental company and was looking to expand into Scotland, so it felt like a great fit for both parties.”

Quick Reach was founded by the Barton brothers in 2014 and is based in Eccles, near Manchester. and is now a member of Access Link, the UK network of independent powered access rental companies, with a combined fleet of more than 11,000 machines available from 38 locations across the UK and Ireland.
