Fugitive takes refuge in crane UPDATED
A suspected armed robber scaled a tower crane today in Dallas, Texas and is sitting it out.
The man is wanted for a stealing a truck at knife point, he abandoned the vehicle for some reason close to the job site and climbed the tower and is now occupying the crane cab. As temperatures soared and with no power to the crane, he broke some of the windows and threw his shirt and shoes at the police swat team which is surrounding the crane.

UPDATE
Around 2:00 am on Tuesday the man bagan climbing on the jib of the crane, slipped and fell around 50 metres to his death. It seems that the gun he claimed to have never existed.

Tower crane security is still a serious issue, not only for people like this but recent incidents have included late night revellers trying to climb to the top of cranes if they can gain access.
This may be an area where a slightly better off-the-shelf solution might be a good idea?
One for the Darwin Awards maybe, gravity, its a bugger !
