Alu crane overturn

A truck mounted aluminium crane overturned on Tuesday in Weilerswist, south west of Cologne in Germany.

The crane was being used by a roofing company with the outriggers on one side short-rigged. As the operator started packing the crane up he forgot the short rigged outriggers and the 7.5 tonne truck flipped over on its side, damaging the roof and ripping off a balcony, while the boom landed on two garages. We understand that no one was injured.

The operator apparently forgot the fact that he had short-rigged the outriggers

I am unsure of this particular equipment, however I would think the manufacturer would have interlocks in place if it was allowed to be short jacked on 1 side to stop this type of incident occurring. Without knowing the full facts, is this a case of an operator overriding interlocks and limit switches to avoid having proper traffic management in place?
