Fatal bridge bash

A man died yesterday in Tel Aviv, Israel after the loader crane on the truck he was driving struck a bridge pulling it down on top of his cab.

The impact simply brough the bridge down

The man, 60, had left his crane left raised over the top of the load he was carrying, which made it too high to pass under the pedestrian bridge over Highway 4 - known as the Coca Cola Bridge – bringing it down onto the truck cab, completely crushing it. It took emergency services over four hours to reach him but it appears that his died instantly.

The bridge was due to be removed in the early hours of this morning, there have already been calls for Israel’s bridges to be urgenly inspected, although this incident was clearly caused by a major impact. Whether a concrete bridge such as this should have sustained such an impact is another thing.
