NCCCO launches Rigger II

The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) has launched its Rigger Level II certification programme. Intended to identify riggers with more extensive skills and experience.

The company is currently registering candidates for the Rigger Level II certification exams which will begin on October 1st.

In order to qualify for Rigger II status, candidates must already have Rigger I certification and are then required to pass both a written and a practical exam.

The written exam consists of 40 questions that must be completed within 60 minutes. The practical exam tests a candidate's competency in rigging a load for a level lift and for rotating a load.

NCCCO rigger program management committee chairman, Don Jordan said: "Although those who have their Rigger Level I certification are considered qualified for most rigging work under the new OSHA rules, this latest certification was developed in response to the clear need to differentiate those riggers who have a basic understanding of common rigging tasks and those who have the knowledge and skill to rig more complex loads."
