New owners for Blade

Bradford, UK-based access rental company Blade Access has been sold and renamed Blade Access Specialists Ltd. The deal - to an un-named buyer for an undisclosed sum – allows the company to focus on the access rental market and in particular the truck mounted lift sector.

Blade Access which was a partnership rathr than a limited liability company, was originally formed as a window cleaning business this part of operation has now been separated from access rental and sold to a different buyer.

The two original partners - Mark Bell and Jamie Bairstow – will continue in the new access business, Bell as the controlling director dealing with sales and innovations, and Bairstow director in charge of operations.

The two have also set up a new window cleaning business Blade Access Window Cleaning LLP and a maintenance buisness - Blade Access Maintenance. Two further companies will also be added to the group in the first quarter of 2011. Rob Bland will be in charge of the day to day running of Blade Access Maintenance.

Blade Access Window Cleaning LLP will only deal with window cleaning contracts that require the use of truck mounted lifts so as not to compete with the purchasers of the original window cleaning business which will focus on lower level contracts. Blade Access has a three year agreement to supply new owners with truck mounted platforms when required.

Director of Blade Access Specialists Mark Bell with the new Wumag WT700

“We are very positive about the future of Blade Access Specialists. The separation of our original window cleaning business will now allow us to directly focus on what we do best in the platform rental market,” said Bell. “In addition to forming a new company we have also taken delivery of another brand new Palfinger Wumag WT700 which has been added to our fleet as part of the Blade Access Specialists strategic growth plan."

"The 70 metre platform is mounted on a specially adapted MAN 32 tonne chassis which was built to European specification standards as it is unavailable in the UK. The platform has also been painted in our distinctive blue and white colour scheme.”

“I am delighted with the achievements we have made to date,” said Bell. “With no previous industry knowledge we have managed not only to establish and grow a thriving business, but also to provide our clients with a unique service that is hard to compete with. Every quarter over the last three years Blade Access has significantly increased business which is a remarkable achievement for a new company in a competitive market place, especially in the current climate.”
