United Rentals acquires Canadian rental company

United Rentals, Inc. has purchased Atlantic Rentals Ltd. Of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada for a reported price of around $30 million.

Established in 1960, Atlantic Rentals has 16 locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. With revenues of approximately $35 million and 140 staff. The company is a full line general rental company offering everything from tools to heavy equipment including powered access; Atlantic holds dealerships for both JLG aerials and Trak telehandlers.

John Milne, United Rentals president and chief financial officer, said, "We are pleased that the acquisition of Atlantic's highly respected organization enables us to expand into a new market, the Maritime Provinces. We share a common philosophy of providing customers with expert solutions that are complete and convenient. United Rentals now serves customers in all ten provinces with approximately 100 Canadian branches and 1,250 employees."
