Conexpo opens tomorrow
This year’s big international show, Conexpo opens tomorrow to what promises to be an interesting five days. With world economic growth still very tender exhibitors and buyers will be sensing the mood, while looking at how the increasingly strong Asian manufacturers perform in this most western of markets.
If a Chinese crane company can crack the USA it should be able to do the same almost anywhere and they are certainly giving it their All - with Sany possibly having the largest most extravagent stand structure of the show?
There are also a fair few new products to look at and much to discuss - from Tier IV engines, to meeting the latest crane regulations.
If you are attending do stop by our camper van in the Gold Lot - hidden behind the massive Poseidon barges! and make sure you pick up your copy of Vertikal Conexpo at the start of the show, all too often visitors who are not familiar with it come across it during their second day and curse that they did not pick up one at the start.
If you are a techie and an avid i-phone user you can follow the lists, maps and guided tours electronically – however if you use a Blackberry you need to have a PDF reader in place. Our plans for something a little more ‘flash’ proved to be more of a challenge across all mobile devices than we had anticipated – so that may be something for Vertikal Intermat in 2012?
If you are not able to visit the show, we will do our best to bring you a few impressions during the week as well as keep the news service rolling. Regardless of how well we do we will of course be following up with a major review of what was new.
A hint of some of the things you can expect to see, that we have not already covered include: Sany’s introduction of two new Rough Terrain cranes, with 68 and 86 tonne capacity one assumes. The Sany stand is massive with the most extravagant building of the entire show.
