Ruthmann adds telematics

German truck mounted lift manufacturer Ruthmann, has introduced a new telematics package called Connect.

The remote diagnostics system utilises Rösler’s Obserwando system that takes the data into a central data centre where it can then be accessed from any computer as long as you have the passwords.

Ruthmann Connect can be accessed from any laptop or work station

Connect includes functions such as an operating hours monitor and all the normal theft- prevention and location features in addition usage/access control, diagnostics and operator help functions.

For example if a user is stuck a call to the office will allow the rental company technician to check for all the usual suspects, including emergency stops depressed, outriggers incorrectly set up, lack of fuel etc…The customer can then be helped over the phone, saving an expensive call out.

The use of remote diagnostics/telematics is gathering pace in both the crane and powered access market. Rösler is by far and away the most experienced in this field having spent the past 12 to 15 years developing and refining the products and systems.

The technology has come fully of age and will be a standard item on larger products such as truck mounted lifts and cranes within the next year or two. It is also possible to see the day when every item of rental equipment is equipped.
