New non-executive director for Speedy

UK based rental company Speedy Hire has appointed Dr Chris Masters as a non-executive director with effect from 13th July.

Masters has 20 years experience as an executive board member of listed companies. He was executive chairman of Aggreko from 1997 to 2002, prior to which he held a number of senior roles at Christian Salvesen – 1979 to 1997, including managing director, Industrial Services division and chief executive. He started his career at Shell in 1971 where he gained an international reputation in the field of homogeneous catalysis.

He currently holds non-executive directorships at Crown Agents, Alliance Trust and Wood Group. In the past five years, he has also served as non-executive chairman at Sagentia Group 2006 to 2010) and SMG 2004 to 2007.
Masters will replace Peter Atkinson, who will retire as a non-executive director on the 13th July.
Commenting on the new appointment, chairman Ishbel Macpherson said: "On behalf of the Company, I am delighted to welcome Chris to the board. His extensive experience, in equipment hire and logistics in particular, will be most valuable and we look forward to his contribution."
