Past the halfway mark

The Lavendon charity bike ride has passed the halfway mark and were just south of Nottingham at around midday, the team have a stop today at corporate headquarters in Lutterworth to look forward to before pressing on to Cornwall.

The five cyclists are apparently doing well, although complaining of falls, stings and inevitable aches, pains and fatigue- if in need of any inspiration they can always check back on Vertikal.Net to tower crane operator Michael Brown’s attempt to run from John O’Groats to Lands End in April – in spite of exhaustion the team are doing very well indeed.

Estel Nixon powers through Yorkshire yesterday

The mileage sponsorship is now approaching £3,000, which added to the more than £5,300 raised by the sale of the bikes at Vertikal Days, means that the Trainees will have raised at least £8,100 – if a few more companies and individuals would chip in we could easily see this reach £10,000 over the next three days as they ride from Leicestershire to the Panther depot in Liskeard.

Today’s guest rider is Paul Hickling while Rob McMeeking takes to the saddle tomorrow…

Joe Keeley, one of the riders said: “There have been some exhausting times for all of the team, but we’re all very motivated to reach that finish line and help provide our support to this very worthy cause.”
