Horizon wins triple ISO certification

UK based Horizon Platforms has become one of the first independent powered access specialists in the UK to achieve three key ISO accreditations –
ISO9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO14001 Environmental Management Standard and OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety. The company also has the IPAF Rental + certification.

According to a statement from the company, the ISO auditors were particularly impressed with its commitment to emissions reduction within its transport department, which includes an investment in the latest Volvo FM 8 delivery trucks – all of which achieve the Euro 5 exhaust emission standards.

Fuel efficient and low emmission delivery and service vehicles was also an important area

Horizon’s new and more structured way to receive and react to customer feedback that then feeds into its continual improvement process helped with securing the accreditations.

The environmental management standards look for a strict recycling policy integrated throughout all areas of the business, which also tends to have a cost saving benefit as well.

Horizon’s joint managing director Ben Hirst, said: “This has been an interesting, challenging and rewarding process during which we have learned a lot about ourselves as a business and where we would like to take the company in the future.
