Skid Steer Death Wish

Spotted by a reader in the UK a man working on the roof frame of what looks like an agricultural building- the form of access? A tracked skid steer loader with fork attachment and a stack of pallets!

The number of deaths and serious injury stemming from falls from buckets or forks with pallets is now highest in the agricultural sector. Mostly while constructing or repairing buildings. Why? Most farms own a front end loader, skid steer or increasingly a telehandler, but what they invariably don’t have is a proper work platform attachment or for that matter an aerial lift.

Death Wish on a skid steer loader

The notion of renting specialist non-agricultural equipment is also foreign to many farmers who would prefer to make do with equipment they have to hand. The chance of an accident though is exceptionally high and the repercussions massive... if most of them were aware of the odds few would take the bet. There is a perhaps a job here for the safety authorities and those dealers who sell them their telehandlers.

Definitely a Death Wish – the first we have had for a week or two -
