Give Svaergods takes first Terex AC140C in UK
UK based wind turbine transportation and heavy haulage specialist, Give Svaergods Transport of Uddingstone, near Glasgow, has taken delivery of the first Terex AC140C All Terrain crane in the UK.
Give Svaergods’ sales director Bill Livingston and heavy crane manager Stuart Bain said: “As existing Terex customers we chose this new model for several reasons, It’s a very compact crane which offers a number of distinct advantages when delivering wind turbines to site. Its 2.75 metre wide chassis means we can enjoy a safety margin when running on standard three metre wide wind farm roads.“

“In addition, the AC140C can be configured to carry 27 tonnes of counterweight, plus its 17 metre extension, within current UK axle load regulations. This road legal ballast configuration offers exceptional lifting capacity without the need of a support vehicle. It represents a cost-effective solution which speeds and simplifies the whole turbine delivery process.”
The company which now has four Terex cranes, recently completed the delivery of 68 turbines to the Scottish and Southern Energy project at Griffin Forest in Perthshire, which will have a capacity of 156MW when commissioned.
The new crane has already made its debut, not on a wind farm, but unloading steel from a boat in Campbeltown Harbour.

Terex’s regional sales manager, Brian Lang added: “No other model or manufacturer was considered for this contract. From the outset the client decided this was exactly the right crane for them, as its 2.75 metre wide chassis was perfect for wind farm work as well as general crane hire.”
