Higher goes with Multitel
UK based spider lift rental specialist Higher Access has added the 22.5 metre Multitel SMX225 spider lift to its rental fleet.
The company, which is based in Ramsbottom, near Manchester with a depot in south Oxfordshire, has been evaluating the new product for almost year and now the first model has arrived along with a number of 31 and 37 metre Omme spider lifts.
The Multitel SMX 225 offers around 10 metres of working outreach in addition to its 22.5 metre working height, and yet it remains very compact at 4.66 metres long (4.5 metres with platform removed), is 980mm wide and 1.98 metres high. Its twin aluminium telescopic booms provide a low gross vehicle weight and centre of gravity. In addition to its standard jacking position it offers a narrow jacking option, allowing it to operate in a 2.9 metre wide corridor and yet retain a full 360 degree working envelope.

The Higher Access platforms are fitted with a 110v power outlet in the cage, the standard 180 degrees platform rotation and two speed drive motors.
Peter Ashburner of Higher Access said: “It is quite a unique platform and will enable us to service a wide range of customers. In addition to its Kubota diesel engine, it can also operate from a 110v or 240 volt AC power source. Weighing only 2.5 tonnes we can be transport it with a standard trailer behind a 4x4. This not only reduces the cost of delivery to site but opens up new market opportunities. Customers will be able to hire the Multitel SMX 225 complete with a trailer and collect it from a Higher Access depot.”
