Blulift supports Cliona Ring Foundation
Irish rental company Blulift is supporting the Cliona Ring Foundation, a charity that supports families of young children undergoing long term medical treatment.
The company and its principals – John and Orla Cusack – recently made the highest bid, in a silent auction, for the shirt worn by Irish rugby captain Paul O’Connell during the 2011 world cup quarter finals. The funds went directly to the charity.
Cliona Ring died at the end of 2006, aged 15, after a long fight with cancer. The foundation was set by her parents in 2007 to provide financial assistance to families from Ireland who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illness.

Funds raised are not used to pay for the child’s actual medical care, rather, donations are made to families for other “hidden” costs, including hotels, restaurants, petrol and miscellaneous expenses incurred by families who must take sick children to hospitals or other medical facilities for frequent treatments.

The goal of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life of children and families who are dealing with the trauma of serious childhood illness. The Cusacks have direct experience of such trauma after the young son Ian was very badly injured in an accident.
