Ritchie Bros sells 200 cranes in five weeks

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers says that it has sold more than 200 cranes in five weeks at a number of unreserved auctions around the world.

The highest value crane sold so far this year was a 400 tonne 2008 Liebherr LTM1400-7.1 All Terrain crane in France, sold for $2.1 million to an online bidder from India.

So far in 2012 the company has sold more than 70 Rough Terrain cranes, 25 All Terrains, 15 carry deck cranes, 15 crawler cranes, 10 lattice truck cranes, 20 telescopic truck cranes and 15 tower cranes in auctions held in the United States, Canada, Dubai, France, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands.

It also has a further 90 cranes ready to be sold by the end of April. The line-up includes more than 40 Rough Terrain cranes, 15 truck cranes and 10 All Terrain along with lattice truck cranes, crawler cranes and tower cranes.

135 of the 200 cranes were sold in North America, highlights include: a 2007 Manitowoc 10000 crawler crane that sold for $565,000 to an online buyer from the state of Georgia. A 1994 Grove/Krupp GMK5175 AT for $340,000 to an on-site buyer from Mexico and a 2002 80 tonne Kobelco CK850II crawler crane for $255,000 to an online buyer from Georgia.

50 of the cranes were sold at European auctions and 15 sold in the Middle East. Other European highlights included a 2000 Demag AC500-1 AT that sold for more than €1.2 million to an online buyer from the Netherlands and a 2005 Liebherr LTM1090-4.1 €410,000 to an online buyer from Australia—both cranes came from Italy.
