End of the road for an old boom?

A road accident near Zaandam north of Amsterdam on Wednesday possibly marked the end of the road for an aging Grove boom lift?

A tractor trailer was transporting an 86ft Grove Manlift AMZ86XT when it was forced to swerve to avoid a vehicle coming in the opposite direction, the trailers rear wheels skidded off the road and onto the verge and down the bank, throwing the 28 metre working height articulated boom lift into the bushes, probably ending its commercial life?

The jettisoned boom lift

No one was injured in the incident, although in the words of our correspondent “the only victim was a good old, best ever made 26m articulated Grove AMZ 86 XT. May it rest in peace after a hard working life. The good ones always die in their harness !!!”

Indeed Bill, that's most likely the reason. But then, we all know that this is one of the few ways to get rid of a Grove Manlift. You have to kill it, or it will keep running. As said: the good ones always die in their harness.

And how was this lovely old boom secured to the trailor ? Don't see any chains or whatsoever.
