Hewden detail Plant and Tool Hire merger
Following the recent merger of Hewden’s Plant and Tool Hire businesses, the company has revealed further details of the planned hub and spoke network.
Hewden Plant and Tool Hire will have nine regional management centres, each acting as a hub for 34 local rental stores. The aim is to improve access and services for customers, deliver a unified service across plant and tool hire and enable the company to invest in expanding its product offerings to the professional customer.
Each of the nine regions will headed by a Regional Director. The regions and their directors are as follows:
Scotland - Alistair Smith.
North - Gary Broadley.
North West - Neal Walker
East - Mark Whiteley
Midlands - John Whitby
East Anglia - Stuart Wild
South East - Simon Clothier
South West - Peter Stennett
South - Gavin Pitt
The company also announced that it has appointed Alan Huddart to the position of Head of Technical Services. Huddart will be responsible for maintenance, repair, standards of service and statutory legislation.

Alan Huddart
Huddart’s role is to specifically address the issues of availability, reliability and repairs on a national scale, ensuring that Hewden maintains and improves upon its quality and reliability. A key role includes managing stock distribution throughout the UK, ensuring that customers have access to the right equipment when they need it, where they need it.
Brian Sherlock, Director of Operations says: "All of these moves will improve customer service significantly. The improvements to our logistics will mean a faster and more efficient service. Furthermore, the absolute focus of an experienced Hewden senior on maintenance and repair is designed to ensure that we maintain and improve upon what we believe is already a leadership position in quality and reliability of equipment."
