APS has gradually built up a full range of quality powered access solutions which it sells to both end users and rental companies. Other brands distributed by APS include, Snorkel self propelled booms and scissors, Leguan skid steer narrow boom lifts and on a regional UK basis Nifty lift and the Genie range portable aerial and material lifts. It also recently took on the Hinowa Goldlift line of smaller crawler mounted articulating boom lifts.

APS can now offer a range of narrow crawler mounted lifts from eight metres all the way up to 30 metres.

Jim Daintith founded APS in 1987 after leaving Hewden’s following its take over of the Seymour access rental business. Today the company, which is based in Huntingdon employs over 30 staff, including seven service engineers and five trainers. Other locations include Glasgow and Dublin

APS has experience of the big trailer lift market, currently a relatively small niche in the UK, as for some years it held the Denka lift agency. The two parted company over a year ago.

Jim Daintith (L) and Ian James of APS

Ian James joined APS in April see James joins APS as general manager with the remit to eventually take over from Jim Daintith as Managing director. He was previously the owner of Delta Rentals, the distributor for the Manlift Toucan range. The business ran into difficulties after JLG acquired the Toucan business and restructured the UK distribution.

Vertikal Comment:

Omme has found an excellent distributor in APS, since he founded the business, Daintith has built up a strong and quality oriented company with both strong end users sales coverage and good contacts with many of the mid sized access rental companies.

In the past year or so he has stepped up the distribution and sales activities, this has included bringing James on board to join Lee Louder the APS sales director and investing in an expansion of its Huntingdon facility.

With three locations in England Scotland and Ireland, a network of service engineers, a substantial training operation and well established used equipment business, plus the range, quality and reliability of the Omme products, the APS /Omme combination will be a winner.
