Crane overturns in Norway

A 70 year old crane operator was trapped under his crane in Borge to the northeast of Fredrikstad, after it overturned on Saturday.

The crane a P&H Rough Terrain appears to have been picking & carrying a load at the time, and went over on its side, although the photos are poor and information provided scant.

The overturned crane

The fire service, ambulance and a Sea King helicopter were dispatched to the scene along with two mobile cranes. The operator was trapped in his cab with his legs crushed under the weight of the crane.

Reports say that he went in and out of consciousness during the rescue, which took almost three hours and his condition was potentially serious.

He was eventually freed and taken to hospital in nearby Fredrikstad where his injuries were described as non-life threatening.
