Terex HyPower for Tallahassee

Terex Utilities has supplied the city of Tallahassee, Florida, with eight new utility trucks equipped with its HyPower hybrid technology. The deal includes four 14.8 metre working height TL41P Hi-Ranger telescopic aerial lifts and four Terex C4045 digger derricks.

All eight machines include battery electric power for all functions, apart from the truck drive line, so that the machines can operate on the jobsite for hours without starting the vehicle engine. When the vehicles are travelling between job the batteries are topped up by a generator. The lifts can also be operated from the standard PTO.

The benefits are significantly reduced fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and noise pollution, all of which helps lower costs.

The city of Tallahassee’s alternative fuels manager Buddy Driggers said:
“The City is using its new TL41P HyPower aerial devices as ‘trouble trucks’, to handle everyday utility jobs such as responding to small power outages and removing downed tree limbs from power lines, while the new C4045 HyPower digger derricks are being used by the city’s line work crews. These new trucks are replacing older utility trucks being retired from the City’s fleet.”

“The city will evaluate opportunities to add more Terex HyPower trucks to its fleet in the future as other units come due for replacement.”
