€100 million order for Konecranes
Finnish overhead crane and lifting equipment specialist Konecranes has won a large order for container handling equipment from Indonesian terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia.
The order comprises 10 ship-to-shore cranes, 20 automated stacking cranes and five straddle carriers, with delivery scheduled for 2014 and 2016. The exact value of the order has not been disclosed, but it understood to be more than €100 million.
As part of a government programme to improve the movement of goods through Indonesia’s waterways, PT Pelabuhan will construct the Lamong Bay Terminal in Surabaya, East Java. The terminal is scheduled for completion in 2014.

Konecranes’ Indonesian headquarters are located in Jakarta and it also has branches in Makkasar, Surabaya, Batam, Pekanbaru, Medan and Balikpapan. Currently it provides service to almost 300 Indonesian customers from different segments such as paper, steel, mining and ports.
