Nifty shortlist

UK based aerial lift manufacturer Niftylift has been shortlisted as Supplier of the Year by the Hire Association Europe following nominations from members.

The company is the only powered access manufacturer to make it onto this year’s shortlist, thanks to the number of members who nominated it. The decision on which company actually wins the award is now down to a public vote.

Voting is open to members and non-members alike, but only one vote per company is allowed, and votes via a public email servers such as gmail or hotmail etc… are not accepted.

If on the other hand you feel strongly that it should not win –well ...... perhaps you can vote for someone else? Whatever you decide you will have to be quick – voting closes at 17:00 hours tomorrow – Friday 15th March.

This is more like awards should be – members nominating suppliers or products that they feel deserve it. Then the resulting shortlist opened up to a well policed democratic vote. Ok yes there is bound to be some politicking as those on the shortlist try and whip up support – but thats democracy and it’s a private vote so no one is likely to vote for a company that they feel does not deserve it.

There is currently a proliferation of awards, many of them generated by publishers – it has to be said – most not worth the plastic or glass they are made of. The fact is it is, that all too often the same few companies or people enter every year – and they tend to be those with the time or the staff to do it and in some cases the money – as some award organisers charge a hefty ‘administration’ fee to enter!

As a result the short lists often exclude the best products, companies or projects. The decisions on a winner is then open to debate and discussion in closed rooms between a few people.

So it is refreshing to see one that at least has a semblance of being open and democratic. It would be nice to see a powered access company winning it this year. Vote now!
