A re-peak purchase

The Peak Tower shopping centre in Hong Kong has taken delivery of a 29 metre TCA Lift Falcon FS290 spider lift.

The new unit, which will be used to assist with general maintenance of the building, replaces a Falck Schmidt TS24 which was purchased from the same dealer 20 years earlier. The FS290’s 200 degree bi-fold articulating jib offers an outreach of 14 metres and features a removable platform, two wheel chassis drive and non-marking tyres.

Brian Falck Schmidt, sales manager at TCA Lift, said: “We are proud that the original machine has been working in Peak Tower every day for almost 20 years in the very high humid climate. Our international service organization deserves a lot of credit for this. We are also proud that Peak Tower once again, after a public tender round, chose us to deliver the replacement even though our price is in the high end. We expect the FS290 will work for the next 20 years – what seems to be an expensive product shows up to be the most cost efficient solution in the long run.”

The Peak Tower was built in 1971 but has since been through several modifications and in 2005 it was redesigned into its current appearance. The building is close to 400 metres high and apparently provides one of the best views of the city of Hong Kong.
