Liebherr starts €50 million component plant
Liebherr-Components Biberach has started building an additional plant in Biberach an der Riss (Baden-Württemberg) in Southern Germany.
The €50 million development will manufacture switchgear as well as electric motors and generators - currently made at its existing factory in Biberach – which are to be relocated to the new site.
The 36 acre site will initially have two 10,000 square metres production halls plus a 4,500 square metre building housing a showroom and communal facilities - and an furhter 7,200 square metre office building also planned. A combined heat and power plant will cover the basic energy requirements for the production halls.

Liebherr-Components Biberach has started building an additional plant in Biberach an der Riss (Baden-Württemberg) in Southern Germany.
The new facility is scheduled to commence production by the end of 2014. Liebherr-Components Biberach currently employs about 150 in this area who will move to the new site.The division is part of Liebherr's components division which develops and produces components for drive systems, such as large diameter bearings, gearboxes and rope winches, electric machines and switchgear. The division also has production sites in Ettlingen, Kirchdorf an der Iller and Lindau (Germany), Colmar (France), Monterrey (Mexico) and Bulle (Switzerland).
