Five Potains for Russia

Russian contractor Alfa Engineering & Construction has taken delivery of five, eight tonne Potain MCT 178 tower cranes from Manitowoc’s Russian distributor Global Cranes.

The MCT 178 tower cranes have a maximum free-standing height of 67.6 metres and can lift 1.5 tonnes at a 60 metre radius. Launched at the end of 2012, Manitowoc claims they offer improved transportation, fast assembly and strong load charts.

All five cranes have been delivered to a residential development in Moscow, with the company intending them to be used at construction projects throughout Russia, the surrounding commonwealth of independent states (CIS), Iran and Turkey.

Alfa's new Potain tower cranes on site in Russia

Ahmat Kappushev, deputy project manager at Alfa, said: “The MCT 178 is a highly versatile and user-friendly crane that we can use on projects today and long into the future. Rather than renting cranes as and when needed, we can recoup our costs quite quickly with these purchases and start making significant savings by operating our own fleet. Plus our operators will always use the same type of crane, which streamlines our operations and makes us more efficient on the jobsite."

Alfa Engineering & Construction, a subsidiary of Turkish based ATK Construction and Trade, has provided general contractor services to customers in Russia, the Middle East and CIS markets for more than 20 years.
