Martin Davies to step down

Martin Davies, European sales director for Skyjack, the Canadian producer of scissor lifts, has decided to make a career change in 2006 and will leave the company in January.

The departure is an amicable one on both sides. In more than 10 years with the company, Davies has helped Skyjack take a significant share of the scissor lift market in a good number of European markets.

He told Vertikal.Net that after several years of constant travelling and on reaching the grand old age of 40, it was time for a change of pace. "With Skyjack having had a record year in the UK and Europe in general this year, it is also great to go out on a high" he said.

Davies has already started winding down but will be invloved in hand over duties for the rest of the year. Skyjack are seeking a replacement to head up its ambitous plans, which include the re entry into the Boom lift market and the setting up of a new European HQ, most likely in a more central European location, to help boost its continental European sales.

Dave Stuart, Skyjack's vice president of sales and marketing, said that the company was sorry to see Davies go, "He's done a great job for us over the years we will miss him".

Davies will now concentrate on his long standing passion for photography. He told Vertikal, that it was a long term ambition to take up photography on a professional basis, and felt that financially the time was right.

He will specialise in business to business and technical photography, which will also allow him to use some of his sales and marketing skills to assist his clients.
