30,000th Liebherr mobile crane

Liebherr has built and delivered its 30,000 mobile crane - a 500 tonne LTM 1500-8.1 - to Mexican crane and heavy transport company Grupo DPH.

"Liebherr cranes have always had a good reputation and since it has had its own location here in Mexico, I know that I can rely on the company's excellent after-sales service for my machines,” said Jorge Fernandez, owner of Grupo DPH after purchasing the LTM 1500-8.1 and an LR 1400/2 crawler crane from the manufacturer.

The LTM 1500-8.1 hand-over occurred in the port of Salina Cruz in the south of Mexico, where Grupo DPH has a warehouse which currently acts as a distribution centre for the wind power plant manufacturer Vestas. The warehouse currently contains 130 generators and hubs for shipment to wind farms throughout Mexico and other countries in South America.

The new crane went straight to work loading the generators at the distribution centre and erecting 68 tonne tower segments at a nearby wind farm. The next job for it includes pre-assembly work for oil platforms. The Liebherr has sold 450 units of the LTM 1500 since its introduction 16 years ago.
