JCB unveils new telehandlers
JCB has upgraded three of its telehandlers including its largest and smallest models to date.
The new 560-80 is now its largest capacity JCB telehander with a six tonne maximum lift and 8.1 metres lift height. Like the five tonne capacity 550-80 the boom is equipped with a Z-bar linkage, similar to a wheeled loader, delivering improved digging ability and breakout forces up to 6,800kgf when used with a bucket. The two-stage boom has a heavy-duty implement carriage, with a broader boom nose to cope with arduous industrial and waste handling applications.

A new five cubic metre bucket is also available for use in low density bulk handling duties. A full Wastemaster refuse industry specification is available, with additional cab and underside protection, reversing cooling fan and added guards. Power for the 560-80 comes from a JCB Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB Ecomax diesel engine.
The telehandler offers 1,750kg maximum load capacity at full forward reach which is particularly useful when loading across trucks. The machine can also be ordered with an optional Auto Smooth Ride system to prevent bounce in the boom and deliver improved load retention in load and carry tasks.
Other features of the 560-80 include seat-mounted servo controls for maximum comfort and ease of use, regenerative hydraulics that recoup energy when the boom is lowered or retracted and the ability to vibrate the bucket to aid tipping of sticky materials. All cylinders are equipped with end damping. in addition there is an auxiliary circuit venting control that allows the operator to release pressure in the auxiliary lines making it easier to swap attachments.

A 20 metre lift height 540-200 telehandler with one of three platform options - this is a 2.2 metre extending to 4.4 metres with slew and 500kg capacity
At the other end of the size scale, the company has added the 516-40 compact telehandler for all markets except North America. Similar to the 1.5 tonne, 515-40 the new machine has a slightly better 1,600kg lift capacity with improved hydrostatic drive and upgraded hydraulic lift components. Power is provided by a 2.2-litre JCB/Kohler diesel, and it has permanent all-wheel drive and four-wheel steer giving a turning radius of just 2.8 metres. Maximum lift height is four metres. Size-wise the new machine is similar to the 515-40 at 1.56 metres wide and 1.8 metres high.

The new JCB 525-60 Hi-Viz
The final new model is the six metre/2.5 tonne 525-60 Hi-Viz, the compact unit is just 1.84 metres wide and 1.89 metres high. The side-engined 525-60 Hi-Viz replaces the 524-50, 527-55 and the 520-50 rear-engined models and can be ordered with a choice of canopy or fully glazed cab, with the option of air conditioning.

The 525-60 Hi-Viz has a maximum lift height of six metres and a load capacity of 2.5 tonnes. The compact telescopic is just 1.84m wide and 1.89m high and has multi-mode four-wheel steering.
he 525-60 if fitted as standard with 16.5” tyres. Other options include full road lighting kit, screen guard and cab mounted work lights.
JCB has also unveiled its Tier 4 final Teletruk with fuel savings of up to 32 percent compared with the previous Tier 3 model. The 3.5 tonne/ four metre JCB TLT 35D 4x4 comes with a fully-enclosed hydrostatic 4x4 drive system as standard.

The compact JCB 516-40 at work
In addition to the standard Load Moment Indicator, JCB Adaptive Load Motion Control is designed to limit boom extend/boom lower functions to system pre-sets when the operator is working within the load chart parameters.
The system monitors all variables as the operator changes reach and height during the lift-cycle and restricts hydraulic flow as limits are reached. If the operator continues to extend or lower beyond those limits, hydraulic flow to those functions will stop, well within the safe zone.
