New Tier 4 Hitachi

Hitachi Sumitomo is preparing to launch its new 80 tonne SCX800A-3 crawler crane, with a low emissions Tier IV power unit. The first two units destined for Europe have been ordered by NRC Plant - Hitachi Sumitomo’s distributor for the UK.

Scheduled for delivery next March, the SCX800A-3 will feature on the NRC stand at Vertikal Days in May. The new crane can be rigged with up to 54.5 metres of main boom and features a nine to 18 metre jib, with a maximum system length of 63.5 metres, made up of a 45.5 metre boom and 18 metre jib. It can lift its maximum capacity to a radius of 3.3 metres.

The crane has a retracted width of 3.2 metres, which increases to 4.83 metres when the tracks are extended. As well as complying with the EU stage IV exhaust gas emissions regulations, it also features an auto-idle stop function and an ECO winch which provides high-speed winching with lighter loads whilst minimising fuel consumption.

The standard hoist/winch has a seven tonne line pull, with the option of an 11 tonne unit. A slew restriction unit and new slew brake pedal are also available. The crane also features a completely updated cab with new controls, operator seat and instrumentation.
