AFI acquires Altitude Access

UK rental group AFI has acquired East Midlands based rental company Altitude Access which runs a fleet of around 180 platforms from a depot in Mansfield, which is also an IPAF approved training centre and a member of the Access Link.

Altitude Access was founded in 1996, with the current company incorporated in 2003, and is owned by Michael Burnett and William Thompson and their families. The company has revenues in the region of £1.6 million and
is in good financial shape according to Companies House, with assets of around £1.8 million. No details of the transaction have been disclosed.
The Altitude Access brand will be incorporated into the AFI brand.

AFI director Steve Williams said: “This further acquisition once again demonstrates AFI’s financial strength which enables us to capitalise on opportunities as they arise. Existing AFI customers will gain from AFI now having a stronger presence and resource in the East Midlands, and Altitude Access customers will benefit from having access to one of the most modern powered access rental fleets in the UK, a complete range of training services, and nationwide coverage through our network of 19 depots. They also have the reassurance of working with a company that has recently gained Investors In People gold status.”

AFI has a fleet of approximately 5,000 machines with revenues exceeding £50 million. AFI's rental companies include AFI-Uplift, Wilson Access Hire, AJ Rentals and Access Rental Gulf, with training operations including UTN Training and Integrated Training Solutions. It also has a sales business - AFI Resale.
