JLG reopens Bedford plant
JLG has re opened its 12,000 square metres (130,000 square ft) manufacturing facility in Bedford, Pennsylvania.
The plant will consolidate all manufacturing, sales, marketing, engineering and administrative functions of the company's Commercial Solutions Group ("CSG") that focuses on selling products for the commercial and industrial markets.
Prior to its closure a few years ago, the plant produced scissors lifts.
JLG has also announced plans to construct a new 3,000 square metre (35,000 square ft) R&D facility in McConnellsburg.
"The reopening of our Sunnyside Road facility is consistent with the organizational alignments we announced previously," said Bill Lasky, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
"The CSG is a key element to diversifying our channels to market, one of our principal strategic goals. And, with our new R&D facility, we will continue our legacy of product innovation and development".
" These investments in additional capacity and the associated reconfigurations at our existing facilities will increase our overall manufacturing capacity, further optimize our facility utilization and position us to more effectively satisfy rising customer demand."
"The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania worked diligently and successfully with JLG to help our expansion plans move forward and create additional job opportunities. We are grateful for the economic assistance and incentives and very pleased to again draw on the dedicated, quality work force in central Pennsylvania."
"This is good news for Pennsylvania as JLG invests and creates new jobs," said Governor Edward G. Rendell.
"This is a tribute to our first-rate workforce and our continued efforts to revitalize our economy and invest in the future. This world-class company is sending a message to other companies that Pennsylvania is a great place to grow and build a business."
