New refurb centre for Platform Sales

UK based Platform Sales & Hire has opened its own dedicated engineering and refurbishment centre in Newton Longville, close to the company’s southern based rental depot in Milton Keynes.

The new facility is an integral part of the company’s plan to expand its used equipment sales as well as refurbishing booms and scissor lifts for use in its own rental operation. Current projects have included the refurbishment of 60 and 85ft booms for the companies Midlands’s rental depot in Coleshill, Birmingham.

The company’s ‘specials’ division has also been moved to Newton Longville along with the manufacturing of its Flying Carpet truck mounted scissor lift. Recent ‘specials’ have included an air powered scissor lift and a Flying Carpet for Delta Airlines. The new facility also gives the company the capability to take on customer work and it has recently carried out third party repairs such as a slew bearing replacement on a Genie Z80/60 for a major rental company.

James Caney, engineering manager for the centre said: “The new facility has given the company a firm engineering base for supplying and maintaining good quality access platforms, whilst also giving support to the hire division’s fleet of over 700 platforms.”
