Crane runs away in UK

A five axle Liebherr All Terrain crane belonging to Ainscough Crane Hire reportedly ran away while parked at a services on the A38 near Plymouth, in the south west of the UK at 7am this morning ending up on an embankment.

The crane - thought to be a 95 tonne LTM 1095-5.1 - partially blocked the eastbound lane of the road near the Trerulefoot roundabout and Saltash, causing extensive delays. The main road connecting Bodmin and Plymouth is expected to be closed later today in order for the crane to be recovered.

The Ainscough AT left the A38 and ended up in a ditch.


The cause of the incident has not been fully confirmed, but the crane was reported to have rolled away while parked. No one was hurt of injured in the incident. Police have urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.

I believe Ainscough is owned by U.S. banks, Goldman Sachs and TPG. Will they be setting up a hedge fund to cover this incident?
