            Forestry open days and shows
Ranger equipment Ltd has targeted the forestry business by running a series of open day demonstrations, both for invited guests to specific open days and at number of regional forestry exhibitions.
The European work at height directive along with previous recommendations by the UK Health & Safety Executive puts significant pressure on tree surgeons to use powered access to carry out much of the work they do in trees.

You can take a lift anywhere!

However anecdotal evidence suggests that most tree workers continue to climb trees and avoid the use of access equipment in order to, as they see it, save money.
One of the driving forces behind this is the deplorable attitude taken by many local councils in the UK and possibly other parts of Europe.

            Slopes not a problem

Local government is by far the largest commissioner of tree work contracts, an ongoing investigation by our UK based magazine, Cranes&Access has found that many UK councils blatantly disregard HSE and European regulations turning a blind eye to the methods tree contractors use to complete their work.

Once there, outriggers are set and it is quickly safely up to the work

Most councils we have approached refused to discuss the subject. Which puts those forestry companies that work within the rules at a disadvantage, at least on some jobs.
Fortunately the efficiency gains on many projects can more than compensate for the cost of the equipment. With campaigns such as the one that Ranger are running, the situation will hopefully change.
