Gang grabs €600,000 with Telehandler
A telehandler was used in a raid on a Securicor van yesterday at the Donaghmede Shopping Centre, Dublin. It is believed that the gang stole the machine from a building site in Balbriggan, Co
Dublin and stored it in Kilbarrack overnight.
From reports received the telehandler was a Sanderson Teleporter, although some reports claim it to be A JCB. It was certainly yellow.
The three man crew of the Securicor van had reversed up to a door of the shopping centre and were preparing to refill ATM machines. One of the gang rammed the forks of the telehandler into the vans bulletproof windscreen. The Screen collapsed allowing two other members of the gang, armed with machine guns to climb in.
They grabbed bags of cash in the back of the vehicle before climbing out of the van and escaping in their waiting car. The Gardaí later arrested a man in the Bayside area. A car similar to that used in the raid, was also found during a subsequent search on Bayside Boulevard.
