Crane operator injured in Brussels UPDATED
A crane operator was reported to have been badly injured in Brussels on Tuesday, reports say that the crane dropped a heavy load.
The operator is said to have come of out of his cab and was somehow injured. So far that is all the information that we have been able to glean from the police reports. Safety inspectors were quickly on the scene but have not added anything.
UPDATE
We now know that the crane dropped its two tonne load of concrete blocks onto the crane cab crushing operator - Wilfried Verplancken, 51, in the process. We have now heard that he has died from his injuries. The contractor on the job is Willy Naessens.
