Crane hits power lines
Two men died and two were badly burned in Lahore, Pakistan yesterday when a crane's boom touched a high tension overhead power line.
The men were labourers on the city’s new metro rail line, and were standing next to the crane which it touched the 11,000kv line and earth to the ground next to them. We understand the operator was uninjured.
Police are investigating but have already accused the crane operator of negligence. From photos that we have been sent on this subject, it looks as the site is exceptionally busy and also includes foundation cranes and concrete pumps so, although we have been told that a crane was involved, we cannot yet be 100 percent certain that it was not one of the other machines on site.
