The LTC 1045-3.1 was launched at Bauma 2010, but needed a change of engine to meet the latest emission regulations. It is now powered by the latest six cylinder, Tier 4 final/EU Stage IV Mercedes engine. Being heavier engine it replaces required some changes in axle spacing, so Liebherr decided to take the opportunity to give the entire crane a re-vamp, including raising its maximum capacity to 50 tonnes.
The 36 metre, six section main boom can be extended with 13 metre bi-fold swingaway, with 1.5 metre integrated assembly jib which Lee Lifting has taken with set sheaves and cross hook, and manual offset of 20, 40 and 60 degrees.
One of its first jobs for the new crane was to support three other Lee Lifting cranes at London's ExCeL Exhibition Centre during the set-up of the London Boat Show. The LTC 1050-3.1 was teamed with a Liebherr LTM 1055 and LTM 1060 to unload and place boats in the show arena. The LTC 1050 has been specified with the elevating operator cab option – which can be raised to an eye level of 7.8 metres and tilted up to 20 degrees, to give the driver an improved view of the load.

At the Boat Show the raised cab allowed provided a much better view of the headroom between the load and the relatively low ceilings.
