The jib was fully extended at the time

The incident occurred in the village of Epalinges on the North East side of the city, the crane, a relatively recent Potain was working on a new residential construction being built by the contractor A.M De Matos when according to the company a strong gust of wind took the crane over, while builders were on site.

The damage looks as though it might be limited to the roof tiles?

The crane was properly set up – although the cribbing under the outriggers leaves a little to be desired, the base of the crane remained solid and played no part in the overturn. The jib was fully extended and the apparently sudden winds took the contractor by surprise. Fortunately no one was under the crane and the house next door that it fell on was unoccupied at the time.

The crane's outrigger base while not exemplary, did not contribute to the incident
