Tree worker fatality
A tree working employed by the City of Vancouver died yesterday after the large limb he was cutting snapped off and crushed him against the basket of the truck mounted boom lift he was working from.
The man, said to be in his 40s has spent his entire career in the tree business, having worked for the City for 16 years. He was part of a five-man team removing a tree in Connaught Park that had been damaged and died. He had partially cut through the limb when it snapped and came down on him.
Colleagues lowered him to the ground but he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. WorkSafe BC is investigating.
