Fatal mastclimber/elevator collapse

A massive mastclimbing platform collapsed at the Feng Cheng power station expansion project in Jianxi on Thursday, killing 74 workers most of whom were working on a the large platform located around the inside diameter of a new, 156 metre high, cooling tower – which is being built by Hebei Yineng Tower Engineering.

It seems that one of the rack and pinion masts collapsed causing others to fail and the platform to drop to the ground, landing on around a dozen people waiting at the base.
