McNally takes first Liebherr LTR 1100

Windhoist-Dan McNally Limited, the Monaghan, based crane hirer and wind turbine specialist has taken delivery of a 100 tonne Liebherr LTR1100 telescopic boomed crawler crane.

The new crane will be employed predominantly with erecting the large mobile cranes that the company uses on wind farm assembly work, and as an assist crane for tailing in the longer wind turbine elements.

The first LTR1100 in the British Isles

McNally has depots in Dublin, Fermanagh and Irvine in Scotland, Windhoist Ltd was established some eighteen months ago as an offspring of its crane hire business to specialise in the growing market for windfarm installation work. McNally has been involved with this type of work since 1998.

Since then Windhoist has undertaken windfarm contracts in Spain and France as well as in its local markets of Ireland and Scotland.

As part of this specilisation Wondhoist has sought out lifting equipment that suits this type of work. It believes that the LTR1100 will prove to be an ideal lifting tool on major windfarm work.

The LTR1100’s crawler undercarriage features hydraulic track width adjustment, allowing the cranes five metre overall width (with 900mm track pads) to be quickly reduced to 3.5 metres, making it ideal for even the narrowest of windfarm roads/tracks.
