New Genies for Ashbrook

UK rental company Ashbrook Plant & Access Hire has taken delivery of 14 Genie articulated boom lifts.

The order includes 30ft Z-30s, 45ft Z-45 diesel and bi-energy lifts, 62ft Z-62s and 80ft Z-80s. The order was placed with Genie dealer Access Platform Sales (APS), and takes Ashbrook's number of machines purchased this year to 124. One of the key target markets for the new machines is the events sector joining telehandlers, fork trucks and lighting towers that the company already supplies to customers in this area.

The move also follows Ashbrook’s acquisition of the Hewden depots in Warrington and Bangor from the administrator in December See Two more Hewden depots sold In April the company joined the Access Link and since then has purchased eight Genie telehandlers, and taken its aerial lift fleet to 100 units, with the addition of Skyjack scissor lifts, Genie boom lifts and Manitou mast booms.

Ashbrook commercial director Mike Ashbrook said: “Our oldest machine was acquired in December, so we have one of the most modern access fleets in the UK. Our customers know they are getting modern, efficient and reliable access platforms. We researched the market and decided that we wanted to buy from APS, because of the after-sales support that they provide. They also went the extra mile in terms of warranty, which was exactly what we were looking for. This gives us much more visibility and transparency in terms of total cost of ownership.”

“We have always supplied a lot of equipment to the events sector, lighting towers, telehandlers and Rough Terrain forklifts. Now we can provide them with a single source solution for lifting equipment and lighting. It has been a very busy summer.”

Ashbrook added: “We have had our eye on the access business for a long time. The Hewden acquisitions brought us an access fleet and some extremely experienced people. We have drawn on that resource to develop our market strategy and it has been very successful so far. Our aim is to grow the access fleet to 200 machines by the end of 2017 and we currently have 172, so we are on course to meet our objective.”
