Gottwald for Korean port
South Korean terminal operator Pyeongtaek Dangjin Central Terminal (PDCT) has taken delivery of a 100 tonne Gottwald G HMK 4406 Model 4 mobile harbour crane, from Konecranes.
The diesel-electric G HMK 4406 can take its load capacity to 46 metres radius, with a maximum lifting speed of 90 metres a minute. The new crane has been handling bulk and general cargo in the terminal, situated around 80 kilometres south of Seoul in the west coast of the country.

PDCT executive director J. H. Park said: “PDCT ordered its first Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour crane in 1989, and a second one in 1996. KCTC now operates three cranes, and Sebang operates two. The cranes have significantly contributed to the sustainable growth of the companies’ handling rates. It was hence logical to also rely on technology from Konecranes in our terminal in Pyeongtaek, where the new machine replaced the first crane that was almost 30 years old.”
Konecranes sales and marketing director Giuseppe Di Lisa added: “Since summer 2016, three Gottwald Quaymate M50 mobile harbour cranes were delivered to South Korea, and we are now proud to continue our recent success with a Model 4 machine, with which we can further strengthen our leading market position in the country. This success is also due to the excellent relationship between PDCT and our local organisation. The service that we have provided has satisfied the customer and, as a consequence, the recent order will also include a tailor-made service package.”
