Crane leaves the road

A mobile crane belonging to Emsley crane hire of Harrogate, left the A658 near Harrogate yesterday ploughing into a field and rolling over onto its side, trapping the driver.

A number of Passers-by saw the accident happen and immediately went to the aid of the crane driver. The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three engines to the scene, the firemen were able to bring the driver out through the windscreen.

The driver, in his 50s, was apparently knocked unconscious but had recovered, by the time paramedics arrived to treat him. He was taken to Harrogate District Hospital for further checks and treatment.
